As I mentioned the other day, my girls are at my parents’ house for their spring break this week. One of the things I’ve enjoyed most while they’ve been gone this time? Texts from Reagan. She uses her iPod Touch and the Text Free app to text – still too young for an actual phone! Her texts crack me up every time. She seems so much older than 9 years old, with her proper grammar and spelling and relatively long texts.
She was very into the fact that she would finally get to wear hang down earrings this week. More than I realized. I received this text shortly after midnight one night:
Excuse the weird way my phone breaks texts into two and always shows the second one first .This was the beginning of what she sent me. Here’s the second part:
I’m not sure what the question marks are for. And yes, she has a signature on her texts. Only Percy Jackson fans understand it. I didn’t know how excited she was about the earring change until I received this text the next morning because I was, of course, asleep at midnight.
The next night I received two more messages from her:
It may be obvious to you that I did not respond promptly enough to the first message (because I didn’t have my phone on me and didn’t see it), so that’s why the more nervous second message came about half an hour later. I did call her to reassure her that she could remove her earrings overnight and the holes wouldn’t close. She didn’t believe me so she put some studs in for that night and said she’d try no earrings the following night.
If you’re wondering how it went, I received this text yesterday morning:
Great news, right? Now you won’t have to worry about her.
I’m not posting the couple texts I received from Jenny. They went something like “Are you having fun?” Jenny’s response: “Yeah.” Exciting.
I’ve enjoyed texting with my girls, but I’ll be happy to have them back home today!
